If you embrace the heavenly city, then you won’t be living in loyalty to the earthly city. Some people make Christianity really complicated and cerebral. Of course there are mysterious and complex issues, but the basic message is this: Christ has brought heaven to earth. As his follower, keep bringing it – Don’t talk behind people’s back; Don’t hold grudges; Don’t say you are committed to Christ, but cheat on him whenever you get a chance; Don’t be a show off; Feed the poor; Sacrifice your time and space and energy; Invest in another person; Don’t continually learn and never arrive at any truth.
Start making this world in the image of its creator. The sunset declares his glory, but does human society?
